Education: Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Ed.S. and M.A., Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan.; B.A., Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, Mo.

Bio:

Dr. Rhodes spent over a decade editing community newspapers in Kansas and Missouri before entering adult/community and, subsequently, higher education. Prior to joining the department at Ohio Wesleyan, she served as assistant dean of the faculty; taught a range of journalism, English, and leadership courses; and advised the award-winning student newspaper at Cottey College, Nevada, Mo. She recently served on the editorial board of NetworkNews, a national newsletter for ACE Office of Women in Higher Education's Network, and as editor of the West Missouri Spirit, the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri's newspaper, which is distributed across half the state. She is a member of the College Media Advisers Association and coordinates programming for that organization as diversity committee chairperson. She also serves on CMA's public relations committee. Other memberships include the Society of Professional Journalists Central Ohio Chapter and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. At OWU, she advises The Transcript student newspaper. Her research interests are in small community newspapers, women's in media and women's education.
